Sage Saining Stick

$8.00

Saining is the Scottish folk magic act of purification, derived from the Gaelic word Seun, meaning “a charm.” Pagan practices are often animistic, which means that everything has a spirit, a life or an energy, and this includes smoke! These bundles of Great Basin Sage, Artemisia Tridentata, are a deeply personal gift I’ve added to the shop and have been wildcrafted from my childhood home in order for others to use in their ritual work - or just because they smell darn good. This sacred plant, cherished by indigenous and migrating cultures and wildlife for hundreds of years, is used for spiritual cleansing, fragrance, food and protection. It is rooted in the greater land that my ancestors lived off of for many generations, and the native cultures that were here long, long before that.

Each saining stick is approximately 8-10 inches long, bundled with string and is fantastically fragrant.

Note: This is not the endangered white sage often sourced for commercial smudging bundles. It is harvested ethically and with great care to maintain the mother plants, which are potentially over 100 years old. This is also a seasonal item.
